Slack alerts not arriving — troubleshooting
Step-by-step checks when Slack messages from Attributed aren't coming through.
Slack alerts not arriving — troubleshooting
If you're not seeing messages you expected, work through these checks in order.
1. Did a test message arrive?
Go to Integrations → Slack row → Send test.
- Test arrives → the connection works. Continue to step 2.
- Test fails or nothing arrives → jump to step 4.
2. Check severity threshold
Open the Slack row in Integrations. If the threshold is high, only high severity findings post. Most findings are medium. Lower the threshold to medium or low and watch for the next finding.
3. Check trigger types
If you've disabled the finding trigger, only Implementation Packs post. Re-enable finding if you want both.
4. Check the bot is in the channel
For private channels, the bot needs to be invited explicitly:
/invite @Attributed
For public channels this usually isn't required, but it's the first thing to check if posts are silently dropping.
5. Check the channel isn't archived
Slack will accept the API call but the message won't appear in any user's view. Unarchive the channel or pick a new one (Choose which channel receives alerts).
6. Reconnect
If none of the above works, Disconnect then Add to Slack again. This refreshes the bot token, which can resolve token-expiry issues.
